Who this course is for
The curriculum is designed to equip professionals with evidence-based strategies to support Service Members, Veterans, and their Families (SMVF), effectively bridging the gap between clinical requirements and community resources. Participants will acquire the skills necessary to navigate military culture, implement trauma-informed care, and leverage community partnerships—specifically with churches—to create safe spaces for reintegration, mental health support, and assistance for families.
Description
This course is profoundly constructed by the two-decade collaboration between Dr. Rob Johnson and Mrs. Weselene Wiley in Dallas. Mrs. Wiley, who established a significant legacy, served as a dedicated supervisor at the Dallas Department of Human Services. She emerged as a pioneering advocate for southern Dallas and Districts 30 and 111. Additionally, she held roles at Metrocare, acted as a teacher and mentor, and advocated for community investment, education reform, and legislative leadership.
Her efforts aimed to empower political leaders, social workers, and faith-based organizations with essential outreach strategies to assist disenfranchised individuals, communities, and their families. In acknowledgment of her contributions, political representatives established an award in her honor, recognized in Texas State Capitol in Austin, Texas and the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. as a testament to her lifetime achievements.
